The Monster that "ruined" Arizona.

This is the sketch that bled through yesterday's sketch of Arizona. Compare and you'll see. :)

Well, there's no real story behind this sketch. I was watching the really awesome Muppet Bohemian Rhapsody video and I got inspired to do up a little monster. So, please enjoy.

Arizona Presley!

Hey kids, hope you had a good Thanksgiving! I missed being away from the blog, but really needed to shut down the engines and recharge. Anyway I was working on this sketch and left it alone so I could sketch something else on the backside of this page in my moleskine. Well, I forgot the paper wasn't exactly good for prismacolor markers. When I realized what I'd done I let out a big "D'OH!"

Anyhoo, I since stopped beating myself up about it. It's just a sketch after all. I placed some ink on it to make it stand out. Hope you like it.

I trust him more than Michael Bay...

Recently I posted a facebook update where I mentioned how sucky the GI:Joe (live action) movie was, only to be compared to the craptacular Transformers 2, by my pal Darla . I mentioned giving Michael Bay creative control is like giving a chimp a flame thrower. So she challenged me to draw that little image, so here it is. Mr. Monkey wreaking havok. Enjoy. And Darla...you're welcome. ;)

Salvatier Team-Up!

Here's a sketch of two of my boys teaming up. Mike (The Bolt) and Artie (The Dreamwalker). It's been so long since I've posted up a sketch. It's starting to feel like a rare treat to me. It's unfortunate when you get so busy you can't do something you really love more often. So I hope you enjoy. I'll be in as much as I can.

Hope to be making a special announcement soon. Take care, kiddies!

Brooklyn

I'm back. It's been a crazy last few days. Need some sleep bad, but for now some skecthtastic awesomness. So this here little girl is Brooklyn. She's got a bit of an attitude as you can see, but she's cool looking at least. We might see her again. Enjoy!

Introducing...Princess PuppyFace

I haven't been drawing many women lately so it was about time for something different. There was a time (and those of you who know me personally remember) when I drew ladies a'plenty. I'd like to start drawing and doing some watercolor versions of this drawing style more, so here's the first of many. I'll post an update on this piece soon.

When I showed this to my wife she named her Princess PuppyFace. There's no real correlation between the name and sketch, but it sounded funny.

Thanks, David!

Yesterday I had the chance to draw with a fellow artist. His name is David and he's about 8 years old. What makes him a unique artist is that he's austistic. This guy is fascinated by cartoon characters; his favorite being Spongebob. We spent a lot of the afternoon drawing on anything we could find and eventually he ran out of ideas, so he asked me "What should I draw next?". Well, seeing as I've been on a character design kick as of late I told him to draw a superhero skunk. Puzzled, he took pencil to paper and started going for it. What he drew was actually pretty funny and I wish I had it to share, but someone picked it up with some paper plates and dirty napkins and dropped it in the trash, but I got a good look at it before that and what you see here is my version of David's character. He or she has no name, but maybe I can think one up. It's a good feeling when you can pass something on to a child, especially one as special as David.

Jimmy and Friends Reloaded

Had a fun weekend doing some random things, but also attending the first ever Long Beach Comic Con. It was cool, small, but cool. It didn't have all the glitz and glam of the SDCC, but it had some great artists there who I was able to talk to. I got to meet some new ones and even talk to some older gentleman who were instrumental during those first few years I was reading comics. Anyway, it's time to get back to some sketching, especially this particular sketch that is still growing and getting crowded. So enjoy Jimmy and friends version 3.0. See ya next time.

ARRGGHHH!

I've been super busy this week, so it didn't leave much time to put up some new stuff, but I thought I'd put up this little doodle starring The Bolt. Don't know how many of you will be at the Long Beach comic con, but I'll be roaming around. Maybe we'll chat!

Beans have the bestest friends!

I'm back! I got a bit busy last week there, kids, but here I am with more sketchtastic awesomeness. I thought I'd pick up where I left off almost 2 weeks ago. I'm going to add as many of my recent characters to this here sketch and see what happens. So stay tuned.

I'm getting requests to make some prints and t-shirts on my recent stuff, so if you feel the same way, let me know with some comments. :)

Does whatever a spider can!

I thought I'd change it up and draw up some Spidey. I tried a more relaxed, quick sketch technique. I even held the pencil different. I t really helpe to loosen up the wrist and get more dynamic sketches. It's always important to not care what you're drawing and just focus on how you're drawing it. Nothing looks better than dynamic sketches. I think I might have been too tight lately. I'm hoping to rectify that this week. See how it goes.
Keep on coming back!

Jimmy and Friends!

This is part one of a nice little piece I've been thinking up for a few days now. It's funny how some things slowly start coming together in my head before I even put pencil to paper. Hope you enjoy. I'll have some more trivia questions coming up too.

Nothing worse than a sad lima bean.

Happy Monday? Can't wait for the weekdend to be honest, but until then I hope to have some cool sketches to share. Anyhoo...you guys remember Jimmy, right? Jimmy the Vampiric Lima Bean? Course you do. Well, Jimmy's not feeling too good. You see, vampiric lima beans are a social bunch. They love being around large groups or even a single person, but when the time comes to be alone and reflect...they become morose little guys. Like someone crapped in their cereal. But the good news he wont be alone for long. Hopefully, you're feeling better than Jimmy. :)

P.S. If you can tell me the name of the 80's Disney cartoon that where the characters were animals who were made up of two animals, you can have this sketch.

"Revenge...like Gazpacho, is a dish best served cold..."

Alright, I'm feeling pretty good right now. I was succesful in a full work week of sketches. I was determined to get back into it. Let's see how next week goes. Anyhoo, I went nuts. I had a million little things crawling around in the 'ole noggin and this was the result. I'm really loving these characters. Here's a roll call.

Pandamonium - the loud-mouth bastard of a panda from New England.

Sushi - you remember him from yesterday, right?

Gazpacho - Sushi's tag team partner (a Raccoon) who hails from Spain. This one's got a bit of a temper on him. Hot-blooded and all. When he brings down the thunder, cold tomato soup follows.

Hope you like these. Thanks for checking the stuff out this week guys. Keep spreading the word.

ARRGGHHH...I"M DROPPIN' LOADS!

Moshi-moshi! Weeks ago I created Sushi & Gazpacho, a luchador tag team. Sushi (a cat) hailed from the land of the rising sun and unlocked the explosive power of Sushi onto his foes. Well, I decided to play around with the design a little bit. It's getting closer to what I want...it's kind of going the route of Octo-puss, where I play with it and play with it until I'm happy. Such is life. Sayonara!

HAI!
